IntroductionThe information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1997 to answer the following questions about Master of Science (Computer Science) graduates : -
II. Employment Situation in 1997
Out of 11 M.Sc. (Computer Science) graduates, 9 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 82%. 89% (or 8 graduates) were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. Another 11% (or 1 graduate) went on for further studies. Nil unemployment was reported. (Table 1)

III. Further Studies
There was only one graduate who pursued postgraduate studies. She took up a M.Phil. programme in the same discipline in a local tertiary institution. (Tables 2 & 3)

IV. Time Taken to Secure Employment
Among those graduates who were in full-time employment, 88% secured
their first job offer before the end of August. The percentage increased to 100% by the
end of September. (Figure 1) V. Employment Sectors Most (88% or 7 graduates) of the M.Sc. (Computer Science) graduates
were employed in commerce & industry. The remaining 13% (or 1 graduate) joined the
education sector. (Figures 2 & 3) VI. Basic Salary and Gross Income The remuneration received by the 1997 M.Sc. (Computer Science)
graduates is shown in Table 4.

VII. Number of Full-Time Job Offers
Of those in full-time employment, 63% of the graduates had more than one job offer. 13% reported having receive three job offers. On average, each graduate received 1.8 job offers. (Figure 4)
