Where did the 1996 M.Sc. (Urban Planning) graduates go?

I. Introduction

The information contained in this paper is extracted from the Graduate Employment Survey of 1996 to answer the following questions about M.Sc. (Urban Planning) graduates : -

II. Employment Situation in 1996

Out of 19 M.Sc. (Urban Planning) graduates, 13 responded to our survey, representing a response rate of 68%. Of these, 85% were in full-time employment within six months of graduation. 7.7% (or 1 graduate) was still looking for full-time employment at the time of the survey in December 1996. (Table 1)

III. Time Taken to Secure Employment

Among those in full-time employment, all were able to secure a job offer before the end of September 1996. (Figure 1)

IV. Employment Sectors

55% of the 1996 M.Sc. (Urban Planning) graduates were employed in commerce & industry, followed by 36% in the education sector. The remaining 9% joined the civil service. (Figure 2) (Figure 3)

V. Basic Salary and Gross Income

Table 4 shows the average income of 1996 M.Sc. (U.P.) graduates in full-time employment.

All of the graduates had received one job offer. (Figure 4)
