A Resume is a record of what you have actually achieved in the past. Hence, for your resume to be successful in winning you an interview, you must first have a track record of results to write about. Now is the time to start building up your track record of achievements.
How to build up a track record of results

|
STEP 1 Participate in extra-curricular activities
|
Any activity undertaken inside or outside of university academic work can be valuable as long as it's relevant to the employer. Taking a short course in an area of interest is another good way of building a track record. See step 3 (below) for more information regarding core competencies.

Activities that involve working in a group are great for improving teamwork skills. Try to participate in as many as possible! |

It is important that results achieved match skills and personal qualities employers look for. |

Now you got a track record of results, include them in your resume. Make sure you make it clear to prospective employers why your track record enhances your suitability for the job. The purpose of doing this is to help you consolidate your various track record activities into a summary about yourself. Step Back, look at what you have achieved and write a summary about:

Now go on to say what you would like to become eventually, i.e. what you want to achieve in your career. Draw on the information gathered above and write down your Career Objective. |
